The Gschwandtkopf ski area is closer to the centre of Seefeld than the Rosshütte. Although the mountain is both lower and smaller than its neighbour on the other side of the village, it is very popular with skiers and snowboarders, who are attracted by the good snow conditions (the main slopes are north-facing) and the more forgiving nature of the ski runs. The villages of Reith and Mösern lie to the south of Seefeld and they access the Gschwandtkopf ski area from different sides. Reith is located on the road between Seefeld and Innsbruck, while Mösern enjoys a spectacular position on the route between Seefeld and the town of Telfs in the Inn valley.
